Law Enforcement To Crackdown On DWI Super Bowl Weekend

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY-Numerous law enforcement agencies will ramp up patrols Super Bowl weekend in an effort to stop drunk driving.

The crackdown will be funded by a Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee Grant in relation to a national effort.

Chautauqua County Sherrif Joseph Gerace makes it his top priority to keep roadways safe from intoxicated drivers.

“If you choose to drink, don’t drive,” said Gerace. “Drunk drivers not only put themselves in danger but they threaten everyone who shares the highway with them.”

In a crackdown last month, law enforcement efforts resulted in two DWI arrests and 62 other vehicle stops, arrests and summons. These numbers are down from years past something Gerace says is a good thing.
