CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Dunkirk Police Department, Westfield Police Department, Jamestown Police Department, Lakewood-Busti Police Department and the NY State Police are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in a Nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday.
The Sheriff’s Office and DEA officials will be collecting potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following four locations: Chautauqua Mall Parking Lot (in front of JC Penney) on Fairmount Avenue in Lakewood, Alstar Ambulance on Monroe Street in Dunkirk, at the Foote Avenue Plaza in Jamestown and at Westfield Family Physicians on Main Street in Westfield.
The service is free and anonymous; no questions asked.
“Prescription drug abuse, misuse and accidental poisoning are a critical problem within our community,” Gerace said. “The Nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is an excellent program to rid our community of these potentially dangerous drugs and have it done with no adverse impact on our environment.”
