Man Cited After Falling Asleep Striking Pole,Tree

Portland – A Pennsylvania man was taken to the hospital on Saturday morning after the tractor trailer he was operating veered off of the roadway and struck a tree, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Larry Blood, 46,  Edinboro, was traveling along  Route 5 when he fell asleep and the left the roadway.

Blood’s tractor trailer then reportedly struck a utility pole before striking the tree.

He was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital by Alstar EMS.

Blood was ticketed for failure to keep right.

He’ll appear in Portland Town Court to answer the ticket at a later date.
