Man Rescued From Chadakoin River After Alleged Altercation

JAMESTOWN- Firefighters rescued a man from the Chadakoin River early  Saturday morning after he was allegedly involved in a fight outside of a local bar according to Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace.

Gerace said his agency’s helicopter was dispatched to Jamestown around 2 am.

WNY News Now’s Facebook page started receiving messages shortly after 3 AM from concerned citizens asking why a helicopter was flying in circles utilizing a spotlight around the Brooklyn Square area.

Jamestown Fire Department was called at 3:40 AM to 15 South Main St. for a report of a possible person in the water.

Jamestown Police have yet to release any further details as of 10 PM Saturday  regarding the incident.

Police Chief Harry Snellings said the unidentified man will most likely avoid charges.

The man’s condition is not known at this time.
