JAMESTOWN – Various areas in the City of Jamestown were without power Saturday night after an unknown cause.
As of Sunday afternoon BPU officials said a “problem” with their power plant was to blame for the blackout.
WNYNewsNow viewers report areas from south of Jamestown to West Ellicott were affected.
Estimates suggest nearly 20,000 are without power as of 11:12 p.m.
Jamestown Fire Crews are responding to multiple power-related calls. One person was stuck in a elevator at 110 W. 3rd St., and a woman was stuck in her power chair in Celoron.
Emergency officials are reportedly operating on backup generators at their downtown headquarters.
Calls to BPU officials are met with a dial tone as of 11:00 p.m.
