Ohio Man Charged In Ice Fishing Incident

MAYVILLE – An Ohio man faces reckless endangerment charges after he allegedly shot a gun in what the County Sheriff’s Office labeled a “reckless” manner over the weekend while target shooting on Chautauqua Lake.
Ice fishermen reportedly heard gunshots in the area of Sea Lion Drive Sunday morning. Other fishermen also reported seeing rounds of ammunition coming over the ice on the lake.
Deputies reportedly searched the area and found 20-year-old Matthew Michael. Michael was reportedly shooting at targets on the ice and his missed bullets zipped past ice fishermen. He was told to stop and issued an appearance ticket for reckless endangerment.
