Parts Of I-86, Rt. 60 Closed Due To Flooding

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY – Interstate 86 Eastbound from Exit 14 to 15, Rt 62 from the four corners in Kennedy to Mud Creek Road is closed due to flooding according to County Dispatch.
As of 5:50 p.m. Doppler radar estimates more than two inches of rain had fallen within the region.
Chief Forecaster Dakota Hunter said torrential rainfall associated with showers and thunderstorms this afternoon is causing flash flooding across the Southern Tier.
We have had multiple reports of flooding coming in from all around the regain via our real-time chat session with the National Weather Service in Buffalo:
A trained storm spotter reported upwards of a foot or more of running water rushing over Route 394 between Kennedy and Waterboro. In Cherry Creek, law enforcement reported that several roads are closed in the village due to flash flooding, and the same in Ellington; multiple road closures from high water there.
The National Weather Service maintains the Flash Flood Warning for southeastern Chautauqua and southwestern Cattaraugus Counties until 7:00 PM this evening.
When you come across a flooded roadway, do not drive your car through it! You cannot tell how deep the water is from the naked eye. “Turn around, don’t drown.”
Justin Gould and Dakota Hunter contributed to this report.
