Playoffs On The Grid Iron Advance Local Football Action

WESTERN, N.Y. – As local high school football teams move on in the playoffs, the games may not be as easy as they may look. 
Tonight, at 7 p.m., there will be a battle of two undefeated teams.
The 8-0 Fredonia/Brocton Hillbillies will play host to the 8-0 Pioneer Panthers.
The Panthers emphatically defeated the Olean Huskies last Friday 42-7 to move on in the playoffs. The Panthers have averaged 41 points per game and have outscored their opponents 328-82.
The Hillbillies shutout the Maryvale Panthers 14-0 last Friday to advance to the next round. It’s the Hillbillies second shutout victory in their last three games.
In other playoff action, tonight at 7 p..m., the 8-0 Southwestern Trojans will be at home against the 7-1 Wilson Lakemen.
Southwestern pitched a 49-0 victory against the Gowanda/Pine Valley Panthers in their first round playoff game. The Trojans are averaging 41 points per game heading into the next round of the playoffs.
Wilson eliminated the merged Falconer/Cassadaga Valley team, 40-12 to move on in the playoffs. They are currently on a six game winning streak and in their last four games, have defeated their opponents by an average of 23 points per game.
The Maple Grove Red Dragons look to avenge a 23-21 loss against the Salamanca Warriors last Friday as they will be facing off for the second consecutive week tonight at 7:00.
Maple Grove comes in with a 5-3 record, while Salamanca is 4-4.
Outside of New York, the 5-4 Warren Dragons will be at home tonight against St. Mary’s to wrap up their regular season.
Warren’s offense has averaged more than 35 points, and more than 391 yards of offense per game.
Senior quarterback, Jake Kupchella, has passed for 2,018 yards, and 15 touchdowns, while adding 157 yards and three touchdowns rushing.
Senior running back/linebacker, Marvin Bryant has rushed for 835 yards, and 11 touchdowns. Bryant is also second on the team with 471 receiving yards on 27 receptions and two touchdowns. On defense, Bryant has 52 tackles and three sacks.
Senior wide receiver/safety, Devin McMeans leads the Dragons with 574 yards, and 7 touchdowns on 23 receptions. McMeans also has 55 tackles, and two interceptions on defense.
Senior tight end/running back/linebacker, Aidan Morrison, has caught nine passes for 190 yards, and one touchdown. Morrison also has 61 yards rushing on 15 carries, and one touchdown. On defense, Morrison has a team leading 118 tackles, a team leading five sacks, and one interception.
St. Mary’s has allowed more than 36 points per game, and have scored only 96 points the entire season.
Kick-off will be at 7 p.m.
Tomorrow, the 8-0 Clymer/Sherman/Panama Wolfpack will be hosting the 1-7 Cattaraugus-Little Valley Timberwolves for the second week in a row.
The Wolfpack have back-to-back 40-0 victories against Salamanca, and Cattaraugus-Little Valley. They have also averaged more than 42 points, and more than 395 yards of offense per game.
Cattaraugus-Little Valley is on a six game losing streak and are averaging 12 points per game.
