FREDONIA – The Fredonia Police officer involved in the incident on Monday is Patrolman Nathan Scriven, according a release Thursday afternoon from the Fredonia Police Department.

Officer Scriven has fifteen years of full-time experience with the Village of Fredonia Police Department.
Scriven was reportedly wearing a body camera at the time of the incident. Footage from the body camera was utilized by members of the New York State Attorney General’s Office in determining that the incident did not require involvement of the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
The same video footage is being utilized by the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office. The name of the deceased is being withheld at the request of the District Attorney.
District Attorney Patrick Swanson told WNYNewsNow, “The investigation remains ongoing and will continue until all necessary information is gathered.”
