Proposed Cell Tower Costing Lakewood Taxpayers Big Bucks

LAKEWOOD-Former Lakewood Mayor Dave Wordelman told WNYNewsNow Thursday Lakewood residents have already spent around $20,000 in attorney fees.

“Anyone with a cell tower application had to put an escrow of $8,500 to pay for consulting fees”, said Wordelmen.

Taxpayers are left with paying $11,500 in various fees as a result per Wordelman.

Lakewood Zoning Board Chair/Attorney Myra Blasius said consultants are needed to reach a decision.

“A village needs to be able to have the information, have an expert, be on the same footing as a cell tower company”, explained Blasius.

The board is expected to present a written decision on February 23rd.
