ELLICOTT – Police and fire officials recovered an SUV that was stuck in icy water on Water Street near Falconer Saturday afternoon.
Falconer Fire Chief Charles Piazza told WNYNewsNow that the occupants of the BMW SUV got out and left the area before crews arrived.
Water Street remains closed from flooding that occurred earlier in the week. On Friday night, water on the street became ice.
Piazza said the SUV went around a posted barricade and ended up getting stuck in the icy mess.
Falconer Fire crews used a village front loader to help remove the vehicle from the water.
Piazza reports Ellicott Police are now investigating this incident.
No injuries were reported.
We were not able to obtain comment from EPD as to whether charges will be filed.
Chief Piazza reminds residents not to go around posted barricades.
