Trooper Clark’s Killer Stockpiled Illegal Firearms

ERWIN – The man who shot and killed New York State Police Trooper Nicholas F. Clark possessed a dozen assorted firearms, according to police, who released autopsy results.
On July 2, Trooper Clark was shot and killed by Steven M. Kiley after responding to 10041 Welch Road in the Town of Erwin, Steuben County.
On July 2, an autopsy was conducted at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton and determined that Trooper Clark died as a result of being struck with buckshot from a 12-gauge shotgun.
An autopsy conducted on Kiley determined that he died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He also sustained a gunshot wound from law enforcement to his chest, which would have been fatal had he not taken his own life, police said.
During the investigation, State Police recovered 12 illegal firearms owned by Kiley, including eight “assault rifles”, one rifle and three handguns, two silencers and numerous high-capacity magazines.
Funeral Services for Trooper Clark will be held on Sunday, July 8, at 11 AM at Alfred University. The Investigation into Trooper Clark’s death is continuing.
