JAMESTOWN-The four year old girl who was found wandering in the 800 block of E 2nd St. Wednesday was reunited with her parents according to the Jamestown Police Department.
The child, whose age was incorrectly broadcasted on a state alert, was reportedly unable to communicate her name or other information when officers discovered her.
Jamestown Police Chief Harry Snellings said, “Initially the officers thought she was two, once we were able to interview the mother we determined was four.”
After a reverse 911 call and a canvas of the area, police located her parents.
Chief Harry Snellings told WNYNewsNow the correct age was discovered after the parents were found.
Investigators said the child left a residence in the area after a door was left unsecured by another child in the house.
Miscommunication between the parents resulted in both believing the girl was with the other.
Police reported no criminal charges are expected.
