JAMESTOWN-A well-attended, vibrant demonstration in Tracy Plaza at City Hall was tempered a bit when a couple of residents shared what many believe to be the current overall attitude of the majority in the city.
“I think it’s really great to see everyone here. I wish we would take a little more action, instead of just sitting around and singing songs. I’m honestly kind of mad,” said Jamestown resident Whitney Poindexter.
Wednesday’s demonstration was a direct response to the bloodshed in Charlottesville, Virginia during clashes between white supremacists and counter protestors last weekend that left 1 person dead and 19 others injured.
“We shouldn’t have to do this in 2017, but it needs to be done,” said resident Marla Harris, who sang “This Little Light Of Mine” to end the event.

It should be reported that there was more optimism than pessimism, at least on the surface.
“It was great to see everybody gather,” said a local social worker who brought her 6 and 7 year old daughter and son, respectively.
Officials who spoke at the event included Jamestown Mayor Sam Teresi and City Council President Greg Rabb.
