JAMESTOWN- Two city businesses helped to celebrate National Free Comic Book Day Saturday afternoon outside Chautauqua Comics on Fairmount Ave.
Chautauqua Comics and Gamers Haven welcomed local fans, with each offering fans something to enjoy when they walk through the door.
Chautauqua Comics posted five Facebook Live videos documenting long lines of comic enthusiasts, rummaging through a variety of free comic books.
Different local vendors offered a glimpse of their services during the event.
Marvel Comic artist, Steve Geiger, signed autographs at the store throughout the day. Geiger has worked on Marvel characters such as Spider-man, Hulk, X-Men and Punisher.
Image Comics publisher, Jim Valentino, once suggested having the first Free Comic Book Day on the same weekend as the opening for the 2002 film Spiderman.
Titan Comics has announced Doctor Who Comics Day will be on Saturday, September 2.
