Vietnam Veteran Receives Nomination For County Legislator

DUNKIRK-U.S Navy and Vietnam Veteran James Palmatier recently received the Democratic Party’s nomination for District 1 County Legislator according to Democratic Committee Chair Norman Green.

Palmatier, 66, will challenge incumbent Republican Kevin Muldowney in a district consisting of the City of Dunkirk and the West Town of Dunkirk.

“Tommy Roque backed out as our candidate due to health considerations,” said Green. “The County Democratic Committee’s vacancy committee met and chose Palmatier as our candidate for the November 7th General Election.”

Palmatier said he will incorporate a simplistic platform.

“My platform is simple,” said Palmatier. “I will attend the meetings I am paid to attend and I will speak up for the needs of the City and Town of Dunkirk.  I am disturbed with the movement of health services from downtown Dunkirk to Mayville and will work, if elected, to bring county workers and services back home to Dunkirk.

“We also need a stronger answer to the opioid epidemic.  I support the work of (Dunkirk) Mayor Willie Rosas in bringing treatment to northern Chautauqua County,” concluded the candidate.

Palmatier is currently a Dunkirk City Library Trustee.
