Zink Wins Democrat and Republican Primary For Freedom Town Justice

LITTLE VALLEY – Mary D. Zink swept both the Democrat and Republican primaries for Freedom Town Justice in primary voting Thursday in Cattaraugus County.
Zink won the Democrat Primary Election with 30 votes. Jennifer Lynn Daugherty tallied 18 votes and there was one write-in vote.
In the Republican Primary, Zink bested Daugherty 92 to 32, with one write in.
The Republican vote to fill a vacancy for Persia council went to Seth Howard, 51, with Jack Boyles getting 15 votes.
Five candidates sought three positions as County Democratic Committee members for Salamanca.  Sinthia Decker received 14 votes, James Mongillo tallied 13 votes and Frank Quattrone won 12 votes. Bernard Lee had 10 votes. Tina Quattrone had 7 votes and Kathleen Sarver received 4 votes.
In the state-wide races, Cattaraugus County voters supported Gov. Andrew Cuomo, but Cynthia Nixon did better in the county then she did across the state. Cuomo won in the county 1,247 to 940 with 12 write-in votes. The percentage tally gave Cuomo the nod 56.7 percent to 42.8 percent.
Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul dominated Jumaane Williams in the Democrat Primary 1,594 (73.8 percent) to 543 (25.2 percent). There were 22 write-in votes.
The hotly contested Attorney General primary, which was won by Letitia James, went very differently in the county. County Democrats supported Sean Patrick Maloney with 1,099 votes (51.2) percent. Zephyr Teachout, who challenged Cuomo in the Governor primary in 2014, was second in the county with 556 votes (25.9 percent). James won 297 votes (13.8 percent) and Leecia Eve garnered 180 votes (8.4 percent).
In the Reform Party Primary for Attorney General, Nancy Sliwa, who won state-wide, received 27 votes (39.1 percent). Christopher Garvey had 23 votes (33.3 percent) and Mike Diedrich received 16 votes (23.2 percent). There were 3 write-in votes.
