Borrello Endorses Molinaro For Governor

MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello (R) endorsed Dutchess County Executive and 2018 GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Marc Molinaro on Thursday.
Borrello told WNYNewsNow that Molinaro was instrumental in assisting him during the start of his administration.
“I have worked with him (Molinaro) and he has been incredibly helpful to me since the start of my administration,” Borrello said. “Long before he was running for governor, I met with him and his economic development team (from Dutchess County). They were incredibly helpful.”
Borrello said that he originally looked throughout New York State to see how he could effectively serve as Chautauqua County’s Executive. Dutchess County was one of the places he researched
“I looked around the state for examples of how to do things right,” Borrello said. “Dutchess County was one of the places I was drawn to.”
Borrello originally made the following post on his official County Executive Facebook page in December 2017 to briefly detail his visit to Dutchess County:
“Myself and Don McCord, the County Deputy Director of Planning, headed off on an economic development road trip to explore how other areas are achieving success in attracting new businesses and retaining and growing jobs. ”
“We headed to Poughkeepsie, NY to meet with Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro and his economic development team. They are doing some very innovative things with their Think Dutchess business retention, expansion and attraction initiative. What a great learning experience for us! This group is thinking differently in their approach to growing jobs and creating a better community with a broader, more regional focus. I plan to integrate some of their ideas into our strategy.”

Molinaro was nominated by the New York State Republican Party to run against multiple Democratic candidates, including incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo.
