Embattled Congressman Collins Actively Seeking Reelection Despite Indictment

BUFFALO – Congressman Chris Collins, who pleaded not guilty this August to illegal insider trading, tweeted Wednesday that he will not step down and will actively seek reelection to his congressional seat.
“Voters can be assured that with the recent turn of events, they can count on me to actively campaign for Congress, and to serve should voters re-elect me,” Collins tweeted. “The stakes are too high to allow the radical left to take control of this seat in Congress. Their agenda is clear. They want to reverse the recently enacted tax cuts, impose Canadian style health care, inflict new job killing regulations and impeach President Trump. We cannot stand by and let that happen.”
Collins tweeted that he will fight on two fronts, one to be reelected to a third term, and one to clear his name of the federal charges brought against him.
