JAMESTOWN – Washington Middle School after-school students are participating in a seven-week program called The Best Part of Me. The students will exhibit their self-portraits on Nov. 28 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the second floor of JCC’s Sheldon Center.
Students worked with photographer, Cathy Panebianco, to create a piece of art that includes a self-portrait and writing featuring their favorite body part. Students brainstormed additional ideas for their self-portraits by interviewing one another about their lives.
“I am very proud of these young artists,” said Panebianco. “Their creativity and thoughtfulness throughout the entire process has been amazing to watch. They have inspired me so much with their out-of-the-box thinking and passion for the project. The finished artwork is really fantastic. I hope people come out and celebrate these young artists. A special thank you to Patricia Briggs at Weeks Gallery who is helping to exhibit our young artists work at JCC.”
The photographers exhibiting are: Nate Barone, Naiomy Garcia, Conner Garcia, Kate Kathman, Jackson Kresge, Raegan Powers, Yeslimar Ramos-Lopez, Bianca Rojas, Yomaris Rojas, Gabrielle Seekings and Stavros Singleton.
