Bonnies Men’s Basketball To Play In Cayman Islands Classic

St. Bonaventure will play in the 2018 Cayman Islands Classic Nov. 19-21 in Georgetown, Grand Cayman.
The Bonnies are among four teams in the field who reached this year’s NCAA Tournament along with Clemson, Creighton and Georgia State. The other four teams in the field will be Akron, Boise State, Georgia and Illinois State.
All of the teams will play three games in three days at the Classic, which will be contested at John Gray Gymnasium, just minutes away from world famous Seven Mile Beach. The tournament pairings, game schedule and TV information will be announced later.
Six of the eight teams in the field finished the season in the RPI Top 100, including the Bonnies at No. 27. Clemson was 11th, Creighton 50th, Boise State 57th, Georgia 80th, and Illinois State 83rd.
The Cayman Islands Classic will be St. Bonaventure’s third in-season tournament in as many years. The Bonnies competed in the Lone Star Showcase in Austin, Texas, in 2016 and the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Fla., last November.
Located in the western Caribbean Sea, an hour from Miami, the Cayman Islands comprises the three islands of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman, located south of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica.
