TORONTO – For the first time in franchise history, the Buffalo Sabres will have the number one pick in this year’s NHL Draft.
The NHL revealed the fourth through 15 picks on Saturday night and Buffalo’s name was not called.
Buffalo joins Carolina and Montreal as the other teams with a chance to earn the top pick.
The first three selections, each done via lottery, will be unveiled at approximately 9:30 p.m. during the second intermission of the Vegas-San Jose playoff game on NBC.
The Sabres have a nearly 19 percent chance to earn the top pick.
The draft will take place in Dallas on June 22.
