OLEAN – St. Bonaventure University, and Randolph native, junior Mckenna Maycock has earned a spot on the 2017-18 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team, the second consecutive year she has received the honor.
The Academic All-District Teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Maycock is one of eight student-athletes selected to the NCAA Division I District 1 team which included nominees from New York, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Joining Maycock on the All-District Team are Sierra Clark of Wagner, Carly Fabbri of Quinnipiac, Kia Nurse of UConn, Erika Stevens of Brown, Mackenzie Trpcic of Albany, Katherine Ups of Buffalo and Camille Zimmerman of Columbia.
Maycock is an accounting major who owns a 3.968 GPA in the classroom. She has been a member of the University Dean’s List and the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll her entire academic career at St. Bonaventure.
Maycock makes the Bonnies one of three Atlantic 10 schools with an honoree, joining Dayton and Saint Louis.
On the court, Maycock has had another breakout season by again showing marked improvement year-to-year. She has averaged 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while ranking among the Atlantic 10’s leaders in both field goal percentage (45.7 percent) and three-point percentage (45.1 percent) while leading the team in rebounding.
She was out of action for nearly a month due to an injury suffered in December, but registered four 20-point games in the first 10 contests of the season. After returning from injury, she has posted double figures in six of eight games played.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. The teams are voted on by sports information directors across the nation.
