Red Raiders Fall To Indians, Trojans Remain Undefeated And Maple Grove’s Comeback

WESTERN NEW YORK – The Jamestown Red Raiders fell to West Seneca West Indians 40-14 on the road Friday night.
Despite their best efforts, the Indians took a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended it to 28-0 before halftime and never looked back.
Senior quarterback Maurice Robertson had a big night under center, picking apart the Red Raider defense for 204 yards passing and three touchdowns.
Running back John Speyer rushed for 198 yards and one rushing touchdown to help out their cause.
For Jamestown, senior running back Francisco Rodriguez continued to make plays, returning a kickoff 72 yards for one of Jamestown’s two touchdowns.
Senior quarterback Drew Boggs added a 15 yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Jeff Seager for the Red Raiders’ other touchdown scored.
To Jamestown’s credit, they managed to score more points in one game than prior opponents West Seneca had for their entire season before this game.
The Red Raiders will be back at home on Friday October, 5th against the Frontier Falcons.
West Seneca improves to 5-0, while the Red Raiders drop to 2-3.

Trojans Remain Undefeated

In other action under the lights, the Southwestern Trojans remain undefeated after defeating the Olean Huskies last night 50-20.
Senior wide receiver Alex Card torched the football field for the Trojans with eight catches totaling up 222 yards and four touchdown receptions.
Southwestern’s senior quarterback Cole Snyder, completed 17 out of 27 passes for 340 yards and a school record breaking five touchdown passes while adding 65 yards rushing.
Senior two-way player Alex Weakfall had an excellent personal game for Olean, returning a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown while also throwing a 75 yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver/linebacker Gavin Kulp.
Kulp also caught a second touchdown pass from 18 yards which was Olean’s final points of the game.
Southwestern improves to 5-0, while Olean drops to 3-2.

Maple Grove’s Comeback

The Maple Grove Dragons defeated the Gowanda/Pine Valley merged football team after coming back in the second half.
Maple Grove overcame an 8-0 halftime deficit and won 16-8.
Senior iron man Easton Tanner caught and ran for touchdowns while adding an interception playing defense to help give Maple Grove the ‘W’ while senior quarterback Carter Crist went 11-22 for 134 passing yards and one touchdown pass.
On the defensive side of the ball, senior tight end/linebacker Daren Valliencourt finished the night with a team high 14 tackles juniors Caleb Roller and Jake Tomlinson combined for 25 total tackles. Roller had 13, while Tomlinson had 12.
Maple Grove improves to 4-1, while the merged Gowanda/Pine Valley team drop to 2-3.


The Depew Wildcats search for a win will continue for another week after suffering a 33-6 loss against the merged Clymer/Sherman/Panama Wolfpack.
Junior quarterback Gerrit Hinsdale completed 11 of 18 passes for 129 yards and one touchdown pass for the merged team.
Senior wide receiver Mitchell Hovey was Hinsdale’s favorite target on this night, with five pass receptions for 73 yards.
The running game was the backbone for this victory, with a team total of 301 yards rushing.
Senior two-way lineman combo Steven Ryan led the charge on the defensive side of the ball finishing the night with 10 tackles.
This three school team will be competing against Maple Grove for their next game.
The Clymer/Sherman/Panama Wolfpack improve to 5-0, while Depew slips to 0-5.
