BREAKING: Frewsburg Native Tosses Perfect Game

Frewsburg native and St. Bonaventure alumnus Connor Grey tossed a perfect game Friday night for the Arizona Diamondbacks’s minor league team Kane County Cougars.

WNYNewsNow had the chance to interview Grey exclusively via text after the contest. He first detailed the emotions he was feeling.

“I mean it’s a great,” Grey said. “This is every pitchers dream and that I finally got one and it’s in pro ball.”

“That means so much more and it’s an incredible feeling.”

Grey wants people to dream outside their home town.

“Being from a small town doesn’t mean you can’t do anything,” Grey said. “You just have to keep working hard and somebody is going to notice that and will give you a chance.”

“Then you just keep proving yourself and keep working and your time will come.”

Grey tossed 70 of his 100 pitches for strikes, fanning eight in a 5-0 shutout of Clinton.

Grey’s perfect game was the first in Cougars history, the first in 17 years for the Midwest League and first ever by a D-Backs prospect.
