JAMESTOWN – Police activity on Curtis Street prompted Jamestown Community College officials to send a mass text alert out to students on Monday.
“The Jamestown Police Department has taken an individual into custody on Curtis Street near College Park,” the alert read. “Curtis Street is temporarily closed. JPD advises there is no active threat to the campus at this time,” it said.
Jamestown Police Chief Harry Snellings told our Justin Gould that no one was taken into custody and the incident is “still under investigation.”
WNYNewsNow arrived on the scene to find several police vehicles and a couple of uniformed officers on the scene. One officer was holding what appeared to be a brown paper bag that is generally used to collect evidence.
The activity prompted several community reporters to send us messages about the activity near the 100 Acres Lot.
Jamestown Police have not released any further information about the incident .
