Distracted Driving Crackdown Set For Mid-April

JAMESTOWN – New York State Police will be in marked and unmarked vehicles, pulling over distracted drivers, as part of a statewide crackdown announced on Monday. 
Operation Hang-up will be conducted from April 12-16t as part of  National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
Troopers will aggressively ticket drivers using handheld devices—like smartphones—during Operation Hang Up.

Current New York State law includes wide-ranging penalties for distracted drivers and fines from $50 – $450.
