JAMESTOWN – A man is facing drug and weapons charges after allegedly leading agents from the city’s drug task force on a foot chase Tuesday afternoon, according to a media release.
Authorities claim Douglas J. Wood, 38, was the target of a street check after they received information that he was in possession of a loaded handgun.
As officers approached Wood in the area of 6th and Fairview, he allegedly fled the scene on foot and fought with them when they tracked him down.
“The arrest is part of an ongoing drug investigation,” said Jamestown Police Chief Harry Snellings.
In addition to being charged with carrying the weapon and possessing drugs, police charged Wood with resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration.
Wood we be arraigned on Wednesday in city court.
