LITTLE VALLEY – A local farm is asking for donations after a fire destroyed their 100-year-old barn, several tractors and other equipment last week.
Posting on their Facebook Page, Native Offerings Farm is looking to raise $150,000 via a GoFundMe Page.
“We are deeply humbled and so grateful for all the support everyone has shown by helping at the farm and raising awareness to our cause,” posted the page. “Progress has been slow, but made possible by all your generosity.”
The farm said financial support is vital to re-build and purchase equipment to resume operations in the spring. Insurance will help rebuild the barn and replace three of the tractors lost.
Insurance funding will also provide money to purchase lost crops so that the farm share program may continue uninterrupted, according to the page.
Native Offerings Farm is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Farm. According to LocalHarvest.org, a CSA Farm is a farm that community members purchase shares similar to a “membership” or a “subscription” and in return receive seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season.
So far on Friday the GoFundMe has raised $12,811 of a $150,000 goal. For more information on the campaign visit the GoFundMe website.
