NCC Opens Today, What You Need To Know

JAMESTOWN – The National Comedy Center will hold it’s grand opening today but the festivities continue long into the weekend. Here’s what you Need To Know:
The new state of the art museum has more than 50 exhibits that take visitors on an interactive journey through all forms of comedy.
Upon entrance, each guest creates his or her own comedy profile at museum kiosks, and are outfitted with an RF I-D chip to customizes their visit.
In addition to the center’s grand opening this year, some major names in comedy will be in town.
Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello told WNYNewsNow Tuesday that the National Comedy Center will positively impact the county, as a whole.
“To have the National Comedy Center located in Jamestown is good for all of Chautauqua County,” Borrello said. “Hotel rooms beyond the City of Jamestown will be filled. People coming here are going to want to go to Chautauqua Lake, they’re going to want to up to Lake Erie and Barcelona Harbor.”
“I think this (the NCC) is going to be an economic impact beyond the City of Jamestown, which is a wonderful thing to see.”
Amy Schumer, Lily Tomlin, original Saturday Night Live cast members, writer Alan Zweibel, actress Fran Drescher and the daughter of Lucy Ball just to name a few will be part of the weekend’s events.
In total the weekend will host 50 separate events and 40 distinguished artists.
During past comedy festivals big names like Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno, Ray Romano, Ellen DeGeneres, Bob Newhart, Jim Gaffigan, Lewis Black and Trevor Noah headlined.
