One Dead In Fredonia Officer-Involved Shooting


FREDONIA – A man was shot and killed during an officer-involved shooting in Fredonia Monday afternoon.
Police dispatch reports said the incident occurred near 76 Liberty St. just before 2 p.m.
An attorney hired by the village police union said the man was holding a knife and refused to stop advancing towards an officer.
The man was covered in blood from a self-inflicted wound. The department nor the lawyer would identify the officer.
The officer was not injured in the incident and the lawyer said they are cooperating fully in the investigation.
The Chautauqua County Coroner’s office, Sheriff’s Department and
New York State Police are assisting Fredonia Officers were at the scene.
