Police Positively ID Body Discovered As Sean Carpenter

JAMESTOWN – The body that was recovered Tuesday from the Chadakoin River was positively identified as 35-year-old Sean Carpenter, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
The official cause of death has not yet been determined, but will be released when it is known, per JPD.
Carpenter reportedly went missing on April 11th. On April 20th, City Police used a state police helicopter to search for Carpenter. Carpenter was reportedly walking home to his house on Superior Street the night he was reported missing.
Police Chief Harry Snellings confirmed to local reporters, including WNYNewsNow, last month that the FBI is assisting his department in the investigation. According to a release Tuesday afternoon, which detailed how the body recovered was likely Carpenter’s, the FBI is still apart of the investigation.
