Residents Urge Police To Act Quickly After Dog Found Hanged From Tree

JAMESTOWN – Residents are reacting with disgust and horror after a pit bull was found hanged from a tree in a wooded area above Hallock and Palmer Streets.
“I can’t get it out of my mind on what I saw,” said Michael Freeman. “There are other solutions to get rid of an animal.”
Police said they were contacted shortly before 8:00 pm on Monday and discovered the pit bull in a wood area not easily visible from the street.
” It looks like it was intentional,” said Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson.”We are going to treat the crime like a serious one.”
A woman who was watching our coverage on Facebook Live coverage felt compelled to pull over when she saw us in the area filming locator footage.
“I hope they catch him,” said Mary Hummerich. “If you could do that to an animal, what’s next?”
Police said they do not know what the sex of the dog is but it is described as Pit Bull Terrier.
“We are looking for any information that the public may have to help us with our investigation,” said Samuelson.
