JAMESTOWN – Senator Charles Schumer will propose a resolution to the Senate that would make the National Comedy Center the official comedy center of the United States.
“When you’re a national center there are all types of economic development grants that aid job creation and tourism,” said Schumer. “Once we get the national designation it will be easier to get a lot of those.”
In order to make the opinion official, a Senate resolution is required.
Schumer made his first appearance at the National Comedy on Friday morning, five months before the attraction is set to open its doors.
“Comedy has a real following,” said Schumer. “Once this center is finished the economic impact of this center will be no joke.”
