CONNEAUTVILLE, Pa. – The National Weather Service in Cleveland has confirmed an EF2 tornado touched down in Crawford County Tuesday afternoon.
Based on a preliminary storm survey that was conducted Tuesday night, the NWS survey team determined that the tornado touched down at 2:33 p.m. near the Borough of Conneautvile with an estimated maximum wind speed of 115 mph at its strongest point.
The tornado moved east through Crawford County near State Highway 198, damaging numerous homes and trees including the Rolling Fields Eldercare Community in Conneautvile, and injuring two people.
The NWS Cleveland said the storm survey is still ongoing and will resume once the first light of day peaks Wednesday morning.
Final details will be released by the NWS after all surveys are complete.
