AAA Works To Prepare Drivers For Bone Chilling Cold

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY – Crews at AAA have been working around the clock for the past few days responding to more than double the calls for things like dead car batteries, all due to bone chilling temperatures that continue to dominate Western New York.
Spokesman for AAA East Central Jim Garrity says that car batteries die faster in subzero temperatures.
“Often times, people forget that it (the cold) is taking a toll on your vehicle as well,” Garrity said. “For example, you want to make sure your vehicle has enough antifreeze.”
“If you do not have enough antifreeze, then your engine could become a block of ice!”
Garrity says to take care of yourself as well as your car. He reminds you to dress appropriately for the weather.
Be sure to wear layers and give yourself enough time to get to work or school when traveling through the ice and  snow.
