OLEAN, N.Y. — Niagara University capitalized on some big baskets in the final few minutes to hold onto a season opening 77-75 win over St. Bonaventure at the Reilly Center on Friday night.
The Bonnies were playing without their leading scorer from last season, senior guard Jaylen Adams, who hurt his ankle this week.
His backcourt teammate, Matt Mobley, finished with 29 points, scoring all but seven of those in the second half.
Niagara’s senior guard Khalil Dukes connected on six three pointers and finished with 23 points.
This was the first Niagara victory over the Bonnies in more than 6 years.
Both teams return to action on Wednesday with St. Bonaventure hosting Maryland Eastern Shore and Niagara opening home play against Minnesota.
