Title Town WNY; Jamestown Community College Women’s Volleyball Team Advances To Nationals

JAMESTOWN-The Women’s Volleyball team’s  30th straight win Sunday advances the Jayhawks into the NJCAA National Tournament for the eighth time in school history and for the first time in five years. 

“We played out of our minds today,” said Jamestown coach Ashley Lund. “It was everything we needed. I don’t know who that team was, but I’m sure happy they showed up today.”

SallyAnne Rudny tallied six aces, 10 kills and 19 digs. Sierra Wells had 28 assists, two kills, nine digs and one block, and MacKenzie Marsh chipped in one ace, 11 kills, 14 digs and one block as the seventh-ranked Jamestown CC defeated Onondaga County CC 25-21, 25-12, 25-12 in the championship match of the NJCAA Region 3 Division III tournament before a packed house of fans.

The Jayhawks bested Fulton-Montgomery in the semifinals, 25-14, 25-14, 25-20. Rudny was named tournament Most Valuable Player while teammates Marsh, Wells and Tara Sweeney were named to the all-tournament team.

The National Tournament will be held in Rochester, Minnesota on March 10th and 11th.
