Wendel Elected Chair Of County Legislature

MAYVILLE – County Legislator P.J. Wendel was unanimously elected the next Legislature Chairman on Tuesday during the body’s annual re-organization meeting.
Wendel, who succeeded fellow Republican David Himelein, said he is proud to chair a legislature that generally doesn’t vote on party line.
“We move forward for the people of Chautauqua County,” said Wendel. “I’m excited now with our new County Executive, Mr. Borrello.”
“It’s like captaining a ship. I’m here as the chairman, and the ship is Chautauqua County Government,” Wendel said.
Meanwhile, County Democrats re-elected Chuck Nazzaro as Minority Leader of the legislature.
Surrogate Court Judge Stephen Cass conducted the swearing in for all sixteen legislators who attended the meeting.
