JAMESTOWN – We are coming up on the last official weekend of summer and it will be feeling just summer. Our eyes are on Hurricane Florence as its remnants will make a run through the state next week.
Cloud cover building over the Southern Tier this afternoon could result in a few widely-spaced isolated showers throughout the afternoon hours. However, the chance is rather small; only around 20 percent.
The weekend should be nice and dry with temperatures in the lower 80s. But the humidity will also be in place, adding that terrible ‘stick’ to the air once again.
We are continuing to monitor Hurricane Florence as some of the remnants will move up through the region early next week. The exact path the system will take is still a bit in question but we do believe we will, at least, be brushed with some tropical-like showers late Monday and Tuesday.
If the system tracks to our south, that will decrease the overall rain chances, but some clouds may remain over the area. If it takes a path straight through Western New York, that will lead to a soaker of a rain event with possibly over one inch of rainfall for some areas.
Looking towards late next week, the sunshine returns with much lower humidity and more seasonable temperatures to officially end Summer.
