A Mainly Dry Week, Humidity Returns For The Weekend

JAMESTOWN – We’re looking at a mainly rain-free week ahead, with slightly above average temperatures into the weekend.
Looking into the weekend and early next week, another wave of heat and humidity will likely make a return to Western New York. However, it appears that the hottest temperatures will be found on the Niagara Frontier in the Buffalo and Rochester metros.
The Niagara Frontier has been a rather parched area in terms of rainfall this season, leading to abnormally dry ground conditions. Down here in the Southern Tier, we’ve had some nice rainfall this summer so the ground is not as deprived for water.
A dry ground absorbs and retains heat much quicker than a saturated ground; during next week’s potential heat wave dryer areas could be hotter than areas that received rain.
