JAMESTOWN – The next couple of days will be a mix of rain and snow, but a developing Nor’easter off the East Coast will likely bring some accumulating snow back to Western New York by late week.
While this storm will be nothing like the event we went through back last Friday, there will be some periods of accumulating snow, as the storm moves along the East Coast Thursday and Friday.
The exact track the storm takes will be one of the keys in determining how much snow we could see out of it.
We do believe the system will be farther out to sea than last week’s storm, but if it tracks just a tad to the west, totals could be bumped up a bit. If it goes a tad to the east, totals could be knocked down.
An *early* prediction for a general snowfall will likely be around 4 to 6 inches.
We will also have to keep our eyes on a potential enhancement from Lake Erie. If that comes to verify, totals will likely be a bit higher on the hills, especially along the Chautauqua Ridge, out into the Boston Hills.
It’s a bit harder to get a response from the lake this late in the winter season, but that potential does exist.
Keep in mind, these totals are an early estimation, and could easily change, as we get new data in.

Wednesday: Snow showers early, changing to a wintry mix in the afternoon. Highs 35 to 39. Southwest wind 4 to 8 MPH. Chance of precip 60%.
Thursday: Scattered snow showers. Chilly. High 29. Chance of snow 60%.
Friday: Snow showers. High 31. Chance of snow 70%.
Saturday: Partly cloudy. Slight chance for a snow flurry. High 36.
