DISPATCH: Rt. 60 Near Fredonia Closing Due To Flooding

FREDONIA- Route 60 near Fredonia will be closed Sunday evening due to flooding according to County Dispatch. 

The route is also reportedly flooded near Sinclairville.

Several other roadways throughout the county are flooded Sunday evening due to the heavy rains per Dispatch. They include:

Rt. 430 in Dewittville near the fire department; W. Main St., Sherman, Rt. 380 between a cemetery and Pierson Rd. in Stockton; Nelson Hill and Frisbee Rds., Cassadaga; W. Main St., Ripley; S. Stocton-Cassadaga Rd., Cassadaga (trees and limbs are reportedly coming down onto the road), Bear Lake Rd. near Fredonia; W. Main St., Westfield; Minton Rd., Westfield; Orchard Rd. in Fredonia. The area of Brainard Rd. in Fredonia is also reportedly flooded.

Chief Forecaster Dakota Hunter released the following statement:

“8 PM update to the Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center removes Chautauqua County out of the standard “Slight” risk, replacing it with a less-than-average “Marginal” risk for the western Southern Tier Region through the reminder of the night. The threat is diminishing, as expected, as we’re losing the little heat that was generated during the daytime. Weather Service continues the Areal Flood Warning for all of Western NY, excluding Allegany County, until 4:45 PM Monday, for the risk of flooding from excessive runoff from rivers and creeks.”
