First Defense: Strong Wind Gusts Tonight, Few Flakes To Start The New Year

JAMESTOWN – The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for ALL of Western New York, going into effect at 11 PM tonight and lasting through 7 AM Tuesday.

Very strong winds will develop tonight behind a passing Warm front and ahead of a Cold front, which will make its way through the region tomorrow.

Winds could gust up to 65 MPH, especially right near the Lake Erie shoreline. Winds of that magnitude could bring down loose tree branches and cause some power outages.

Rain will overspread the region this afternoon and tonight. Most models have been pointing towards rainfall amounts close to a half inch to three quarters of an inch across much of Western New York.

As the cold front moves through on Tuesday, the high temps will occur early in the day. Temps will slide through the 30s throughout the day and most areas will end the day in the upper 20s, around 26 degrees.

Below average temps will return for Wednesday with Mostly Cloudy skies before it begins to get slightly milder oQunce again by the weekend.
