One More Muggy Day; Chance For Afternoon Storms, Relief Lasts Through Next Week

JAMESTOWN – We are finally coming to the end of this prolonged period of heat and humidity, as a strong Cold front pushes in tonight.
The NOAA Storm Prediction Center has all of Western New York under a less-than-average Marginal Risk (1/5) for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

The main threats with any storms today will be gusty winds and torrential rainfall. The bad news is, some areas of Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties do not need any more rain, as they suffered from flash flooding from storms that rolled through the region yesterday morning.

For the foreseeable future, we will return to more of a ‘normal’ summertime feel with the passage of that font. Much of the upcoming week will be dry, with the next chance for rain next Tuesday, and only a 25% at  that for the time being.
