Quick Northeastern Winter Storm For Wednesday

JAMESTOWN – Clouds will hang tough for today, before a deepening storm system over the Tennessee Valley makes a run up the Northeast tonight, through early Thursday morning.
Current model guidance has the track of the storm remaining well to our south and east, leaving us on the “good” side of the storm. However, a shovelavle to plowable snowfall is still likely across Western New York.
A Winter Storm Watch is currently in effect for Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties, and areas off to the east and north.
The storm will begin in the Southern Tier in the morning hours of Wednesday, then expand northward through the day. The heaviest amounts of the snow looks to be for the morning hours, into the early afternoon.
The snow will then again to taper off through the afternoon from west to east, as the storm continues to move along the Northeast.
Current storm totals will range between 5 to 9 inches around Jamestown, with lesser amounts to the north. Totals will go up the further eastward you go, as you get closer to the storm center.
Keep in mind, the storm track could still jog. If the track jogs a bit to the west, our snow totals across Western New York will go up. If the storm tracks a bit to the east, our totals will come down.
