JAMESTOWN – We can’t seem to get a good break from the rain as more rain showers are in the cars for much of the upcoming week.
A slow-moving Low centered off the New York City coast is backtracking towards the west, throwing more rain across the Northeast. As the rain continues to work to the northwest, the rain chances will increase through the afternoon and evening.
As we work through the day, the rain could pick up in intensity and become moderate to heavy at times. The in-house models in the weather center have been painting rain totals between one and one and a half inches across Western New York, with locally higher amounts. This will require some monitoring for flash flooding issues, mainly along the higher terrain.
Another storm system will likely come our way late week into the weekend. However, computer models are not in complete agreement with the exact placement of the Low in relation to Western New York at this point, so we’re being optimistic that the majority of the days will be dry with limited periods of rain. This is subject to change however, as we get more data throughout the week.
