Repetitive Weather Next Several Days; BIG Warmup By Weeks End

JAMESTOWN – A winter-type pattern has been the story throughout much of the month of April, and it looks like that pattern will continue.
A wintry mix of rain and snow showers will carry us through much of the week.
We do see some partial sunshine on Wednesday, but temperatures will still be off the mark by about 5 degrees or so.
However, short-term (and I do mean ‘short term’) rejoice looks to come our way for the end of the week.
A Warm front will ride along the Northeast Friday through Saturday, spiking  temperatures well above average for much for the East Coast.
While the two prime global computer models, the American GFS, and the European Ensembles, are plotting the front a bit northward towards our region on Friday, which would likely bring lower 70s across much of Western New York on Friday, some models are keeping the front a bit to our south.
Also, current model guidance is suggesting that there will be more clouds than sun on Friday, with a slight chance for a rain shower throughout the day.
If that idea verifies, the clouds will likely act as an insulator; keeping the sun from heating the atmosphere too much during the day, which will keep our temperatures down.
With that in mind, I’m currently airing on the side of caution, and I’m holding my Highs down in the upper 60s for both Friday and Saturday.
Looking Beyond The 7 Day: Remember how were talking about how the second leg of April would likely usher in some warmer temperatures? Forget that thought.
The current temperature forecast from the NOAA Climate Prediction Center has all of Western New York under a 70% chance for below average temperatures over the next 8 to 14 days.
While this warmup at the end of the week while be nice, it looks like it just isn’t going to last.
If you’re looking for long term warmth, look towards May, because, as of this point, that will be our best chance for more seasonal weather…
