CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY – Snow will continue through Tuesday, which will drop another few inches on top of what we already have, according to Chief Forecaster Dakota Hunter.
Monday, a slushy mix of snow and ice covered Chautauqua County roadways.
The County’s Director of Emergency Services John Griffith, travels from Falconer to Mayville on a daily basis.
Griffith says our rural roads can be tricky especially with gusty winds that bring blowing and drifting snow.
“Leave plenty of space between you and the car in front of you,” Griffith said. “If the road conditions do change you are not right on top of someone.”
Griffith also suggested using caution when you drive up to intersections.
“Because the snow banks are so high you have to be careful while pulling out at intersections,” Griffith said.
Sunday fire fighters responded to a disabled snowmobile on Chautauqua Lake.
Griffith doesn’t recommend riding on the lake just yet, especially with the warming temperature expected this week.
