Winter Weather Advisory For Wraparound Snow From Remnants Of Nor’easter

JAMESTOWN – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Southern Erie, and Wyoming Counties, going into effect 3 PM this afternoon, and running through 5 AM on Saturday.
The nor’easter that’s been impacting the east coast over the past 48 or so hours, is now centered just offshore Boston, MA.
We are expecting this system to lumber off the coast for a little bit and then, move back towards the west, as colder Canadian air gets wrapped into the system.
The retrograding back to the west is the piece that will will impact Western New York  and throw us some accumulating snow over the next 24 to 48 hours.
In terms of overall snow totals, we’re going for an average of around 6 to 10 inches, but 8 to 12 up along higher terrain, 4 to 6 out towards Allegany County, and 2 to 3 northward into the Buffalo/metro.
However, there is the potential some Lake Erie enhancement will filter into the storm. If that comes to verify, totals will likely be a bit higher on the hills, especially along the Chautauqua Ridge, out into the Boston Hills.
